Upper Bognor Road
Street guide, Bognor Regis
Upper Bognor Road runs northward from the town centre, serving as one of the key routes into the North Bersted residential area. The road has a mixed character, with some commercial premises and community facilities near its southern end and predominantly residential properties along most of its length. Housing is varied, from terraced Victorian and Edwardian properties near the town to inter-war semis and later twentieth-century development further north. Upper Bognor Road passes close to the site of the medieval settlement of Bersted, which predates the development of Bognor as a seaside resort. The road is used by local bus services and carries a moderate volume of traffic. Side streets leading off Upper Bognor Road provide access to the residential areas of North Bersted, which have grown substantially through new housing developments in recent decades.
