Flansham Lane
Street guide, Bognor Regis
Flansham Lane is a route leading to the small settlement of Flansham, located to the north-east of Bognor Regis between the town and Yapton. The lane retains a semi-rural character in places, with hedgerows and open fields visible alongside more recent residential development. Flansham itself is a small hamlet that has been gradually absorbed into the wider urban fringe of Bognor, though it still has a distinct identity with a cluster of older buildings at its core. The lane is used by local traffic and provides access to the residential streets that have been built in this area during recent decades. Flansham Lane gives a sense of the agricultural landscape that once surrounded Bognor on all sides before twentieth-century development extended the town's boundaries. The flat coastal plain stretches northward towards the Downs, and the lane sits on the boundary between suburban Bognor and the remaining open countryside.
