Chichester Road
Street guide, Bognor Regis
Chichester Road is the main northern route out of Bognor Regis, forming part of the A259 corridor towards Chichester. The road carries a significant volume of traffic, particularly during summer months and at peak commuting times. The road passes through the North Bersted area, where substantial new housing development has been built on land to the east and west. The southern section near the town has a more urban character with commercial premises, while the northern stretches become increasingly suburban and then semi-rural as the road approaches the open countryside towards Chichester. Chichester Road is a key transport link for the town, providing access to the A27 trunk road and onwards to Chichester, the nearest city. Bus services to Chichester use this route. The road also passes near the site of a significant Bronze Age archaeological find at North Bersted, discovered during housing development in 2008.
