Argyle Road
Street guide, Bognor Regis
Argyle Road is a town centre residential street running between the High Street area and the seafront. The street is lined with a mix of Victorian and Edwardian terraced and semi-detached houses, many now converted to flats or guest houses given their proximity to the beach. Argyle Road has a quiet residential character despite being close to the busier High Street and Esplanade. The buildings are predominantly two and three storeys, in brick with rendered facades in places, and reflect the period when Bognor was growing rapidly as a seaside resort and needed residential accommodation for both visitors and the workers who served them. The street provides a useful pedestrian link between the town centre shops and the seafront, and is often used as a cut-through by those heading to the beach.
