William Blake's Cottage

Historic Site, Bognor Regis

William Blake's Cottage is a Grade II listed thatched cottage on Blake's Road in Felpham, where the poet and artist William Blake lived from 1800 to 1803. It was during his time in Felpham that Blake wrote the poem that contains the lines later set to music as 'Jerusalem'. The cottage is one of the most significant literary heritage sites in West Sussex. The Blake Cottage Trust has worked to preserve the building and its grounds. The cottage is a small, vernacular building that gives a direct sense of the rural Felpham that Blake knew, before the village was absorbed into the wider Bognor urban area.
