Waterloo Square
Historic Site, Bognor Regis
Waterloo Square is a Georgian square close to the seafront, one of the few surviving elements of Sir Richard Hotham's late eighteenth-century plan to develop Bognor as a fashionable seaside resort. The buildings are rendered in the Regency style, with sash windows and classical proportions. The central garden provides a green space within the town centre. The square is within the Conservation Area and represents the earliest phase of Bognor's resort development, predating the railway and the later Victorian expansion. Properties on the square are residential and in varied condition.
